FIFA 08 Strategies: Defend, Attack and Score!

Starting in online games on FIFA 08 can be quite difficult and requires alot of time to develop and learn how to really compete with higher ranked opponents.

One of the best places to start learning is quite simply in the start menu!
With Ronaldhinio you can perfect different trick combinations and methods that will give you a serious edge on your opponents. If you learn to master even the most simple tricks and have a good knowledge of when and how to use them, you will leave your opponent for dead.

I will firstly explain to you 3 tricks which I have learn’t to be the most effective:

1) 360 roll : This is probably one of the most valuable moves if FIFA08. It draws in the defender to make a tackle, ideally sliding, which either draws a foul or gives you a clear passage towards goal down his free side. It is best to use this move in free space, as it requires plenty of room and time to make the full maneuvere. A good situation would be in a one-on-one with the last man on a fast counter-attack, or on the wing to break away from the right or left back and make a well timed cross.

It is a very useful tool for getting around players and drawing fouls.

There are many different techniques around and many of them involve different methods, but I find the most effective way to defend is by using my midfield and attacking players to at least breakdown the opponents attempt before the defence even has to get involved.Never at all costs use a slide tackle in the penalty box PARTICULARLY if you are chasing them from behind. 90% of the time you will be sent off and a penalty will be awarded.

Formations

Formations are a very important aspect of FIFA08 as they allow you to manipulate your dominance of the game.
The first thing I can tell you is that it is important to know your team and where you stand on the park. For example, I have recently been using Milan and without falter, will use a strategy invloving an attacking midfield role. You want to take advantage of your different players abilities, which in this case is of course Kaka flanked ahead of two supporting midfielders. In the current squad update, he has a value of 90 in both the CAM (centre attacking midfield) and RAM (right attacking midfield) positions. When you move into a CM or RM position, his value will decrease to 85, meaning he will not be as effective.
So my formation would involve either a 4-5-1 or a 3-5-2.

The other aspect to keep in mind is the teams mentality. If you use a defensive mentality, the team will run back to help defend, whereas if you set it to attack, they will be less keen.
I was actually unaware of this, but it is rather useful if you use it properly.

Finally, man-marking must be applied to the oppositions most dominant striker. If you are playing against Manchester United, I would seriously recommend placing your meanest, hardest defender such as “… The tall figure of Mertesacker” on Wayne Rooney, who has a very high upper-body strength in this game.

I hope this article helps you in your FIFA 08 venture and stick around for more videos and information!
